Like about the Martin D-18V: (1)attractive tortoise/celluloid binding. (2)fast 1-11/16" neck width. (3) its lightness. (4) comfortable neck profile. (5) overall sound rich & deep with good clarity). (6) price. (7) its basic, workhorse design.
Dislike about the Martin D18V: Nothing.
Additional Comments: Martin produces a lot of varying D-18 models. This particular one is often overlooked or shied away from because some folks don't care for the narrower 1-11/16" neck width and the modified V neck profile. These characteristics, especially the neck profile is what gives this guitar its unique sense of ergonomics and feel. The legendary Martin sound factor is a given. Unfortunately there are some who can only play a 1-3/4" neck width and this is an important issue for those who are struggling to get clean notes off at the first position(s) of the once standard 1-11/16" nut design area. The soft V profile is great for getting good leverage around the upper neck and it gradually rounds out a bit towards the 12th to 14th frets. If Martin were to eventually modify these features, it would no longer be a D-18V.
