Like about the Martin D-18VS: Deep, deep bass, and an abundance of resonance that makes it sound more like a rosewood guitar rather than mahogany. But play a light melody up the neck, and the beautiful, pure mahogany tones fly out of it. Outstanding guitar.
Dislike about the Martin D-18VS: Sounds too much like my D-28 Marquis. That's a huge compliment, but I am looking for a different sound. Granted, if you listen closely, you can hear a little more string separation on the 18VS, but it is also lush and full. Not your daddy's mahagony! Try it if you're a rosewood fan and see if you're not converted.
Additional Comments: This guitar will give a lot of other much more expensive models a real run for the money. It's hard for me to find a guitar that competes with a D-28 Marquis for full sound, but this one does it well, with even fuller bass. Really nice instrument!
