Like about the Martin D-42: I have played and owned several Martins. I like the D-42 for the deep sound and great action. The more I play it the better it sounds.
Dislikes: It will not take itself into the gigs no matter how hard I train it.

Like about the Martin D42: A huge sound - yet tasteful, full, well balanced; a real joy to play. An inspirational instrument and very beautifully designed and made. The only real buzz I get is when I take it out of the case. Roars like lion; purrs like a kitten.
Dislike about the Martin D-42: Try as I might, I can't find anything wrong with this instrument.
Additional Comments: I'm saving up for a top grade Brazilian rosewood model.

Like about the Martin D-42: It has incredible action and the appointments, especially the ebony buttons, really make this guitar a "keeper for all time".
Additional Comments: I bought it in 1988- D-42 Limited Edition, #51 of 75. It's an unbelievable guitar. (much nicer than the newer ones, even though they're very nice as well.)

Rating you gave the Martin D42: 5 - Best thing I ever bought
Liked about the Martin D-42: I really enjoy the ease of playing. The action is fantastic. The sound is getting deeper as my guitar is aging. It is now a year old and there is a marked difference in tonal quality from when I first purchased my D-42. The sound quality is excellent. You can play soft or you can drown out those you are playing along with. I can play bluegrass, pop, soft rock, jazz with great sounds. I am amazed at how much better the sound is on the D-42 than my D-1 or my 1976 Ovation 1716-2.
Disliked about the Martin D-42: Having to change strings. That is always a pain. Each time I put new strings on, it just seems like this guitar sounds better than ever before.
Additional Comments: If you are an avid player and looking for a guitar that will last you a lifetime, I recommend the Martin D-42.
