Remembering David Crosby

A special podcast about a very special Martin guitar enthusiast, this episode of Martins & More is dedicated to the late David Crosby. Crosby died on January 18, 2023, at the age of 81.

David Crosby’s music meant a great deal to Maury and Spoon. They were saddened by the loss of such a singular artist, but are happy to celebrate Crosby’s unique songwriting, his contributions to music history, and his influence upon countless other musicians, including themselves. Please join them for this uplifting remembrance of songs, guitars, and unmatchable voice of David Crosby.

In this episode, Spoon remarks that David Crosby is the touring artist he has seen perform live more than any other musician. Maury remembers attending the first Martinfest and knew he was in the right place, when he arrived on the scene and heard someone singing a David Crosby song while playing a D-28. That person turned out to be T Spoon Phillips. They have remained the best of friends ever since.

While Crosby is remembered primarily for his collaboration with Graham Nash and Stephen Stills, and his tenure with the Byrds before that, he had a long and fruitful career as a solo artist, and was still actively recording and touring up until his final illness. Maury and Spoon share their thoughts and recommendations on their favorite David Crosby songs, albums, and performances.

We would love to learn about your favorite David Crosby music and moments in the comments section of the YouTube version of this podcast!
