On the Road again with the acoustic-electric Martin DRS1!
The acoustic-electric Martin DRS1 is the Dreadnought size model in the Road Series at the 1st tier, meaning it is the most affordable full-size Martin guitar with a body, bracing, and neck made with solid wood.
The back and sides are sapele, which has the rich nut brown grain one looks for in the mahogany family of exotic tonewoods. And the top is also sapele, so it has a clear, defined bass, warm midrange, and a very sweet, full trebles, and loads of resonant sustain.
The body has a satin finish just like the mahogany-topped Martins of the 1940s, and the select hardwood neck has a natural oil finish that is applied by hand. The neck measures 1-11/16" at the nut, with the 2-1/8" string spacing and has a Modified Low Oval profile.
So, not only does it look and sound similar to the upscale D-15M, if feels like one too, at nearly half the price, complete with Fishman Sonitone electronics standard on all Road Series guitars, made with the performing musician in mind.
