Buying a pickup for your acoustic guitar can be a very frustrating process. There are so many different choices out there, and in most cases, you have to install the pickup BEFORE you get to hear it! I'm a guitar player myself, and I've been through this many many times. I've compiled a few samples here to give you a basic idea what these acoustic guitar pickups sound like. Please understand that your individual guitar, amp, PA system, playing style, and even pick can and will make a slight difference in a pickup's tone. These Mp3s are just here for your reference. Hopefully they might help you decide which pickup you think deserves a closer look.
All of these acoustic guitar pickups were played hrough an LR Baggs ParaDI into my Bose PA system. I recorded the sound coming out of the PA onto my Olympus digital recorder. The EQ on the ParaDI was set flat, and I used no effects or compression. It's also important to note that every one of these pickups can sound much better with some moderate EQ. With the dual-source systems like the Ellipse Aura and Rare Earth blend, you can get very creative with the blend.
